Atco 45-6681 – Help Me Make Up My Mind/I’m Just Sitting Here Thinking

Oddly enough this seems to be the only 45 on Joyce Jones, surprising since the local release on Vee-Eight sold well enough to be licensed by Atco for a national release.  These sides are out of Tupelo, MS and date from 1969.  Vee-Eight was a label owned by John Mihelic (Statue was another).  The band on this is Joseph Wilson & the Lost Souls who played on many of Mihelic’s late 60s/early 70s releases.  Apparently Hines brought Jones to Mihelic to cut these sides, so she may well have been a Hines discovery.  FMH Productions could be taken from the last name initials of partners in Mihelic’s ventures (F for studio partner & local Jukebox operator Dominic Fratesi, M for Mihelic & perhaps H for Hines).  A very good 45, the uptempo answer side to “Can I Change My Mind” has been comped & the ballad side should be better known.  If you have any other info on Joyce Jones please let me know.
