Eva Larse

Reginald 8670 – Won’t Someone Help This Poor Lost Soul/The Man Does Something To Me

Eva Larse was brought from Nashville to New Orleans to record by Hines in the mid 60s.  She came from a gospel background and a gospel album was even planned by Hines at some point but ultimately didn’t happen.  She has one other 45 for the Nashville based Startown label but I don’t know if this is from before or after her association with Hines in New Orleans.  The Reginald 45 is two ballad sides with nice bluesy/gospel tinged vocals.  The only footage of Eva Larse comes from her televised performance on The Beat from July 1966 where she performs a couple of covers instead of her own tracks, possibly her Reginald 45 had not been recorded at that stage.  She is mentioned in the liner notes of the Folkways LP which was released later than The Beat performance in 1966 but no tracks from her are included on the LP.
